This is a very pretty acorn shaped box made out of Mango Burl (Mangifera indica) with Laceolata Rosewood (Dalbergia lanceolata) cap.  This is a gift from the Tropic.  Mango with its yummy fruit is already a economically important tropical species, now the wood is also a valued timber, since the tree can grow very large.  Here, I have a seldom seen Mango burl, what a beauty!  Capped with another rarely seen true rosewood from Asia, this acorn is a keeper!
