This is a small acorn shaped box made out of Lignum Vitae (Guiacum officinale) with Black Chacate (Guibourtia conjugata) cap. Genuine Lignum Vitae is quite famous for being "the densest wood in the world". The wood is also believed to have medicinal properties; "Lignum Vitae" is Latin for "Wood of Life." Official National Flower of Jamaica, the timber is now rare and expensive. What's more, it can eventually develop a dark green patina. Black Chacate is also called Tsots, this species is from Mozambique and other E. African & S. African locales. It is dark brown with shimmering lighter streaks. Very fine grain and heavy. My first time working with this wood, and it is love at first sight. Such handsome dark wood that turned like a dream and polished up like glass! I like the weight of this acorn in my hand and the cool, super smooth feel.

Good for small daily pills, keepsake...Not recommended for long term storage of emergency pill, since I don't know how air/water tight the closure is. Through the ages, people has given out acorns as a symbol of prosperity and luck. This one is a unique gift.
