This is a very special persimmon shaped box made out of Pink Ivory (Berchemia zeyheri) with Verawood (Bulnesia sarmientoi) cap.  Pink Ivory is an exotic wood native to Southern Africa, and is one of the most rare and beautiful woods in the world. The color ranges from salmon to pink to dark red.  This persimmon was made from a wood blank with nice orange tone. The wood is fine grain, lustrous, with a shimmer when turned cross-grain like this one.  Since I am experimenting with making persimmon box, this orange color will be perfect in combination with the greenish Verawood for the calyx.  Also known as Fruit of the Gods, persimmon is the symbol of joy in China, and triumph in Japan.  Another colorful, unique box for your collection.
