This is a small acorn shaped box made out of Cocuswood (Brya ebenus) with B&W Ebony (Diospyros embryopteris) cap. I have here two very special timbers: Cocus is a rare species is found in Cuba, Jamaica, and the Dominican Republic. Also called Green, Brown, or West Indian Ebony. The heartwood is brownish-yellow to dark brown often with a greenish tinge. It is usually beautifully veined with darker streaks. The wood is hard and heavy. It is well known for its use in woodwinds such as flutes, piccolos, and bagpipes because of its fine and uniform grain, its beautiful coloring and its resonance. Black & White ebony is a unique ebony with black streaks on a light background. This piece of white ebony is super dense with the dark streaks, but the figure is still apparent. Combined together, they make an exquisite, little acorn.
A nice little box for your valuables. The screw-on cap makes this box extra special and ensures that your content is secured. Good for small daily pills, keepsake...Not recommended for long term storage of emergency pill, since I don't know how air/water tight the closure is. Through the ages, people has given out acorns as a symbol of prosperity and luck. This one is a unique gift.
