This is a special slim threaded holder made out of Madrone Burl (Arbutus menziesii) with Desert Ironwood (Olneya tesota) cap. A California native, Madrone is a beautiful tree with peeling red barks and strawberry-like fruits. The bark and leaves have medicinal value and the fruit can be distilled into alcoholic drink (I should try this at home...) The wood is fine grain and heavy, but the light reddish-orange burl is the most interesting part of this tree, with lots of eyes and crazy swirls. The warm, shimmering tone of Deseet Ironwood cap adds contrast and visual interest.
