This is a very special mushroom shaped pendant box made out of East Indian Rosewood (Dalbergia latifolia) with Nubian Desert Palm Nut (Medemia argun) cap. East indian rosewood is a great tone wood and a nice, rich dark timber for my turning pleasure. The color ranges from dark purple, red to brown. It is resinous, stable and generally more consistent than most other rosewood species. Nubian palm is native only to the arid desert of Sudan and thought to be extinct until recently. The fruits were found buried in ancient Egyptian tombs. The polka dot pattern and the semi-translucent nut serves perfectly as a mushroom cap!
The screw-on cap ensures that your content is secured, yet can be easily accessed. If you want a permanent seal, apply a very small amount of wood glue to the thread before closing.
