This is a very pretty acorn box made from Asian Satinwood Burl (Lagerstroemia calyculata) with a Red Zebrawood (Berlinia grandiflora) cap.  From Southeast Asia, this Crape Myrtle relative is one of the most impressive flowering tree.  The wood is often highly figured, specially with curly, fiddleback patterns that shimmer in 3D.  Of course, it wasn't called Satinwood for nothing.  The burl is even more special, choke full of eyes! The warm color and streaky pattern of the Red Zebra cap this off really well.
