This is a pretty heart shaped keychain attachment made out of Olive (Olea europaea). Olive is a tree of many religious, cultural and economic significants. The leafy branches of olive are considered as a symbol of abundance, glory and peace. Olive oil also has been considered sacred and is till use in many religious ceremonies. The oil and fruit are important ingredients in many cuisines. Olive is the most mentioned tree in the Western sacred texts and literatures. And the wood is one of my favorite with it's extra fine grain and beautiful figure.
The heart was cut free-hand and then hand sanded to a smooth, contoured surface, with just an oil/wax finish. It is equipped with antique bronze hardware, ready to dangle. Due to this manual process, each heart is unique. Also due to this manual process, I do not offer hearts very often. It's too much exercise for me with all that sanding and polishing! But I know, a natural, simple, meaningful, unique heart is hard to find, so here is a collection for your enjoyment. It is also good to carry a piece of real wood with you just in case you need to "knock on wood" to prevent jinxing yourself, since nowadays, with all those "alternative" materials, finding a piece of real wood could be a challenge. And, of course, it is a perfect gift for that special someone who hold the key to your heart!
