This is a very pretty acorn shaped box made out of Figured Black Walnut (Juglans negra) with Burr Oak (Quercus macrocarpa) cap. Black Walnut needs no introduction. It is the most popular dark wood of the temperate zone. Its timber is valued for fine furniture, musical instrument, gun stock, wood floor, among others. Here, I have a very nice walnut piece, loaded with figures. Burr oak has the largest acorn in North America. The cap was cross-cut to show the concentric rings from the natural rings of the wood. I like this cute acorn!
