This is a very pretty acorn shaped box made out of Purpleheart (Peltogyne paniculata) with East Indian Rosewood (Dalbergia latifolia) cap. Two purplish woods combined for this acorn. Purpleheart is one of my favorite wood for it's vibrant and unusual color. The color will become more vibrant after this acorn is allowed to ripe a bit more, so don't be surprise if you got this one and it looked much more saturated magenta. This particular piece of Purpleheart is also slightly curly with the shimmering grain. East Indian Rosewood is a true Dalbergia species with a dark purple tint. A purple acorn, anyone?
