This is a very pretty acorn shaped box made out of French Boxwood (Buxus sempervirens) with Lignum Vitae (Guiacum officinale) cap.  Boxwood is a hard and heavy wood from a slow growing, small shrub, popular as garden hedges.  The wood is often used to make chess piece due to its extremely fine grain.  It is also a favorite wood for detail carving.  The bright yellow color does not change significantly with exposure. Boxwood is the hardest and heaviest wood out of the whole Europe.  From South America, Lignum Vitae is a beautiful timer and is the heaviest and hardest wood.  These two timbers look lovely together in this acorn.
