This is a very special mushroom shaped pendant box made out of Betelnut (Areca catechu) cap with Hope Bush (Dodonaea viscosa) stalk. I like to experiment with palm nuts, specially those with the beautiful pattern. These natural materials are hard and dense, often referred to as vegetable ivory due to the similarity in properties. Only here in my shop, you can find several species of these nuts transform into threaded caps: acorn cap, box cap, and mushroom cap.

This mushroom was made from the betel nut, the nut that people chew for a slight stimulant effect.  Hope Bush is a small ornamental shrub with dense whitish wood.  It is a salvaged piece from my neighborhood trimming.  I don't think you can find any other article made out of this obscure wood.

So, here it is, a small mushroom with a secret compartment. Good for very small daily pills or small keepsake. The screw-on cap ensures that your content is secured, yet can be easily accessed.
