This is a simple bowl made from a piece of figured Back Walnut (Juglans negra).  Beside producing the weird looking nuts, walnut also produces one the most popular dark wood in North America.  I often use walnut as a part of a design.  Here, the wood takes the center stage, with just a few burned lines as a decorative element.
