This is a pretty slim threaded holder made out of Oxhorn Bucida Burl (Bucida buceras) with Bocote (Cordia elaeagnoides) cap. Also known as Florida "Black Olive" Tree, Oxhorn Bucida, Gregory wood, this species is well utilized around the Florida keys as shade trees. The hard and heavy wood, however, is not often seen, let alone the rare burly form. This holder show cases many features of this burl: bark inclusion, eyes, swirly grain and some natural color stains. The cross cut Bocote adds another set of visual interest.
