This is a fun apple shaped container made out of Quina (Myroxylon balsamum). Quina or Argentine Sandalwood is a pinkish-red wood with incredible amount of natural oils that provide a perfumed scent that lasts. Quina is extremely durable and is widely used in Argentina for a variety of purposes including counter tops cutting boards, and flooring. Sold individually, but if you order a pair of shakers , I will refund you 20% as a discount.
Once in a while, I got request for salt shaker, so I have been thinking about that. Here is a new concept for a shaker that will work for any fruit with a small stem. The bottom has a rubber plug for easy filling of the content. The removable stem acts as a plug for the container, so your spice stays dry, and ensures that the small hole does not get encrusted. Pull the stem up, shake out the salt (or whatever finely grounded spice), and plug it up again. If you misplace the stem, any small twig you can find from your garden will do. The stem can also be permanently attached with a small amount of wood glue to turn this apple into a piggy bank type container. This is a cute addition to your kitchen, or gift to your favorite teacher!
