I was very fortunate to get a few large pieces from a very old vine that threaten to swallow it's owner's house. There was a huge purple bougainvillea covering in the front of my chilhood home. That, too was cut down when no sunlight could shine into our livingroom. I was sad to see it went because I used to climb up it's mutiple twisted trunks, just high enough to feel the thrill of that alternative experience. The wood has a bright yellow color with interesting grain.
