Black locust is a beautiful tree with Wisteria-like chains of dangling flowers.  The \"Purple Robe\" variety sport nice purple clusters instead of the usual white.  There is a street near my place lined with purple Locust trees on both sides.  Needless to say, that street turns magically beautiful in the blooming season.  The wood is hard, heavy and very durable. One very interesting thing about Locust wood is that it fluorescences under black light, producing a strong greenish yellow glow.  This particular piece has a very nice iridescence olive green tint.  This footed bowl is truly special!\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eDimension (largest diameter x height): 3\" x 5\"\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003ePLEASE READ:\u003cbr\u003e-- All wooden items were hand turned and\/or hand threaded on a lathe \u003cbr\u003e-- The item was sanded to 800 grid for a smooth finish and sealed with a food-safe lacque to showcase the natural wood color(s)\u003cbr\u003e-- Each piece offered is a unique item.
