This is a cute acorn shaped box made out of Amboyna Burl (Pterocarpus indicus) with Betelnut (Areca catechu) cap. Pterocarpus indicus is still considered the official national tree of the Philippines, where it is now endangered. The tree itselff is called Narra, and so does the reddish wood. However, the burl of the Narra tree is called Amboyna. The beautiful burl ranges from golden yellow to deep red, highly figured, and polishes up nicely. It is one of the most luxury burl wood. The Betelnut cap brings another set of visual complexity to this small nut.
A nice box for your valuables. The screw-on cap makes this nature inspired box extra special and ensures that your content is secured. Good for small daily pills, keepsake... Not recommended for long term storage of emergency pill, since I don't know how air/water tight the closure is. Through the ages, people has given out acorns as a symbol of prosperity and luck. This one is a unique gift.
