This is very nice eggplant shape trinket box made out of Purpleheart (Peltogyne paniculata) with Verawood (Bulnesia sarmientoi) cap.  I have not made an eggplant for awhile because the recess, tapered, hand carved cap is an ado unto itself. But the deep purple Purpleheart and the deep green Verawood are begging to be transformed into an eggplant, so here it is: looks good enough to eat...Now, I am dreaming of Szechwan eggplant, eggplant parmesan, baigan ka bharta, moussaka, baba ghanoush... The cap will eventually develop a green patina, and the purple will be deeper with time. This Purpleheart piece has beautiful shimmer and interesting markings. You have to swirl it around to enjoy the depth and changing look!
