This is a special slim threaded holder made out of Khamphi Rosewood (Dalbergia cultrata) with Betelnut (areca catechu) cap. Also known as Burmese Blackwood, this is a true rosewood species with dark, interesting grain. It is a very beautiful, dense wood. Betel Nut is a very hard palm nut with significant cultural role in SE Asia and India subcontinent. It is often chewed for the mild stimulant effect, often offered as a sign of friendship and hospitality. In Viet Nam, Betel Nut, along with Betel leaves, are the symbols of marriage. My grandma used to chew the betelnut/leaves/lime/tobaco concoction. I remember going to the open market to selected the best fresh nuts and leaves for her. Of course, I also tried out that intriguing Vietnamese chewing gum, but I'm telling you, it's seriously an acquired taste!
The crew-on cap makes this holder extra special and ensures that your content is secured. The slim profile fits unobtrusively in a purse or pocket for the people on the go. This holder can be used to hold toothpicks, pill, snuff, sewing needles, cash stash and small valuables...Also serves as a nice gift for someone who seems to have everything.
