This is a very pretty acorn shaped box made out of Chakte Viga (Caesalpinia platyloba ) with Brownheart (Vouacapoua americana) cap. Chakte Viga is well known for the lovely burnt orange color that will deepen with age and exposure. The wood is fine grain, lustrous, with a suble shimmer. The burl of this species is often called Paela burl, another case of double identity. If you want an attention-grabbing acorn, nothing beats screaming orange! The earthy Brownheart cap tones this acorn down a bit, but it is still a very bright, cheerful one!
