This is a very pretty acorn shaped box made out of Queenwood (Amantaria manutis) with Kingwood (Dalbergia caerencis) cap. This acorn is suitable for Royalty. Can't think of a better pair of woods for a meaningful combination! Queenwood is a recently introduced timber from South America. It has an interesting gradation of color and a nice purple tint. I am not sure why it was crowned as Queenwood, but the fine grain timber is indeed worthy of this title. Brazilian Kingwood is a beautiful member of the rosewood family with a violet hue. It is a dense wood that polishes up to a lustrous finish. It was a popular wood for high-end furniture of the 18th Century, specially that of King Louis XV and XVI (hence, the name Kingwood). It is now becoming becoming very rare and expensive. I like this one!
