This is a round box made out of Leadwood (Combretum imberbe) with Tambooti (Spirostachys africanus) cap. Leadwood lives up to it's name: hard, heavy, dense wood that sinks in water. An atrractive dark wood with a warm chocolate color, this timber is not often available. It accept threading and polished up to a nice shine. Also called African Sandalwood, Tambooti is an oily timber with a persistent aroma. I found the scent not as strong, but pleasant. It is another beautiful brown timber with wild darker streaks. They looks pretty together in this small box.

The all-wood threaded box is a rare commodity. The screw-on cap is what make this box extra special. It can be used to hold pills and small valuables...The flat profile fits unobtrusively in a purse or pocket for people on the go, and the screw cap ensures that your content is secured. I don't make flat boxes very often. Since there is very little space to maneuver the threaded cap, flat boxes require very careful matching of the threads for a smooth, spin-on/spin-off operation.
