This is a pretty slim threaded holder made out of Mun Ebony (Diospyros mun) with Betelnut (Areca catechu) cap. Mun Ebony is my favorite ebony species for several reasons: the wood is very fine and easy to work with, the patterns can be very striking and a hint of green tint make this ebony special, the wood is very stable, dimensionally. This ebony is the first precious timber that I know and love. It is also the reason I became a woodturner. Betel nut is an important palm nut in SE Asia and Oceania cultures. It is chewed with betel leaves and lime for the mild stimulant effect; often offered as a sign of hospitality or friendship. The nut is also accociated with legends and is a symbol for marital love. This holder is dark and strikingly handsome!
The crew-on cap makes this holder extra special and ensures that your content is secured. The slim profile fits unobtrusively in a purse or pocket for the people on the go. This holder can be used to hold toothpicks, pill, snuff, sewing needles, cash stash and small valuables...Also serves as a nice gift for someone who seems to have everything.
Dimension (largest diameter x height): 1" x 3-3/8"
