This is a very pretty acorn shaped box made out of Mun Ebony (Diospyros mun) with Bocote (Cordia elaeagnoides) cap. Mun Ebony is my favorite ebony species for several reasons: the wood is very fine and easy to work with, the patterns can be very striking and a hint of green tint make this ebony special, the wood is very stable, dimensionally. This ebony is the first precious timber that I know and love, a lustrous dark wood with subtle figures. Bocote is another lustrous wood with not-so-subtle figures. the eycatching cap pairs perfectly with the dark nut. I like the way it look!
