This is a very pretty acorn shaped box made out of Sappanwood (Caesalpina sappan) with Verawood (Bulnesia sarmientoi) cap. Related to Brazilian Pernambuco, Asian Sappanwood was a once popular export wood in the 17th century, but seldom seen now-a-day. The wood has many uses, beside being a lustrous timber with red orange hue. It possesses antibacterial and anticoagulant properties for medicinal application. It also produces a reddish dye called brazilin, used for dyeing fabric and making red paints and inks. The tree is also a beautiful ornamental with panicles of yelllow flowers. The dark green Verawood cap add vibrant to this bright acorn. This is another combination of unusual natural colors.
A nice box for your valuables. The screw-on cap makes this nature inspired box extra special and ensures that your content is secured, good for jewelry, keepsake... Through the ages, people has given out acorns as a symbol of prosperity and luck. This one is a unique gift.
