This is a round box made out of Desert Ironwood (Olneya tesota) with Curly Koa (Acacia koa) cap. Arizona desert Ironwood is probably the nicest looking wood from North America,  very hard, heavy, polished up to a glassy finish and the swirly grain shimmers like gold.  The American Indian believes that the wood will bring luck and good health to the people who carries it. Koa is another special wood from Hawaii with a nice golden shine. It not only shines, but the depth is also amazing in a curly figured piece like this one.  "Koa" means brave, bold, fearless, or warrior. The wood is highly sought after for carving, furniture and specially musical instruments. This box combine two top timbers from both states.

The all-wood threaded box is a rare commodity. The screw-on cap is what make this box extra special. It can be used to hold pills and small valuables...The flat profile fits unobtrusively in a purse or pocket for people on the go, and the screw cap ensures that your content is secured. I don't make flat boxes very often. Since there is very little space to maneuver the threaded cap, flat boxes require very careful matching of the threads for a smooth, spin-on/spin-off operation.
