This is a very pretty acorn shaped box made out of Bois de Rose ( Dalbergia maritima) with Black Palm (Borassus flabellifer) cap. Bois de Rose is one of the rarest and most beautiful types of true rosewood.  Nice, fine grain wood with color ranges from dark maroon to purple to almost black with dark streaks.  This wood will become unavailable in the near future, as all legal exports have stopped permanently.  This acorn is cross-cut to show off the black streaks in this timber. Black Palm is the NationalTree of Cambodia, the unique pattern are just perfect for an acorn cap. It is not very easy to thread due to the stringy nature of the wood, but well worth the effort!
