This is a very pretty acorn shaped box made out of Purpleheart (Peltogyne paniculata) with Brownheart (Vouacapoua americana) cap. This is an acorn from my collection of chromatically named woods. True to it's name, the South American Purpleheart is a special wood that quickly turns purple after exposure. The color will deepen with time. I like the bright purple color of this wood very much, so I often come back to make something out of it. The color is just perfect for an eggplant. Brownheart is also a South American native with very nice brown tone and shimmering light streaks. It is hard and lustrous, very popular as wood flooring and other applications where wear and tear are a concern. It is not often seen in the US wood market. A nice box for your valuables.
