This is a pretty slim threaded holder made out of Burmese Sal Burl (Shorea leprosula) with Desert Ironwood (Olneya tesota) cap. This is a rarely seen burl from a rare timber. Also known as Light Red Meranti, Sal is an Asian species that grows from Peninsular Thailand throughout the Malay Peninsula, Sumatera, Bangka and Borneo. It timber is valued for it's nice color and high durability. The burl has coarse resin veins and swirling grains. This holder show off the nice fifure and shimmering quality of this timber. Capped with equally shimmering ironwood for added effect.
