This is a very pretty acorn shaped box made out of Black&White Ebony (Diospyros embryopteris) & Lignum Vitae (Guiacum officinale) cap.  Black & White Ebony is a wood like no other:  the contrast is striking, the wild pattern is even more extravagant.  This acorn was turned cross-grain to show off this beautiful timber.  The Lignum Vitae cap will eventually turn deep green.  True Lignum is the hardest and heaviest commercial timber.  Together they form this awesome acorn.
