This is a very pretty acorn shaped box made out of Pollyanna Burl (Irvingia malayana) w/ Black Palm (Astrocaryum standleyanum) cap.  Pollyana is a SE Asia species with mango-like, edible fruit.  The tree is very large, tall with buttress-like roots.  This awe inspiring species  is considered sacred by the mountain people of Vietnam.  The wood is very hard and dense, valued for heavy construction.  Pollyanna  burl has beautiful swirling pattern and subtle color variation. The Black palm cap adds contrast and visual interest with it's unique pattern.  This nut is larger than what I normally put a metal clip on.   I like this one!

Not recommended for long term storage of emergency pill, since I don't know how air/water tight the closure is. Through the ages, people has given out acorns as a symbol of prosperity and luck.
