This is a very pretty acorn shaped box made out of Brazilian Rosewood (Dalbrgia negra) with Lignum Vitae (Guiacum officinale) cap. Since I have a a piece of rare Brazilian Rosewood, might as well make a rare acorn, too. Brazillian Rosewood is one of the world most sought after tone wood. It is now considered commercially extinct, due to export ban. The species itself is endangered from habitat loss. The wood is very lustrous, hard, heavy, with beautiful black veins. The greenish lignum cap adds visual interest and contrast to this earthy acorn. Special and limited.
