This is a cute mushroom shaped box made out of Weeping Bottlebrush (Callistemon viminalis) cap with Birdseye Maple (Acer saccharum) stalk.  This bottlebrush species is abundant around here as ornamental, but nobody seem to prune this tree for some reason, so the wood is rare.  I found a small branch from the green recycle pile a while back and know that the textured tight bark will make a good mushroom cap, so here it is.  The stalk is the more common maple, but with the rare birdseye figure for added visual interest.
