This is truly a unique threaded vessel made from Sago Palm (Cycas revoluta) with Guatemalan Mora (Inga sp.) plug and base. Sago palm is not a true palm but a prehistoric Cycad species. It is popular as landscaping tree. This vessel was turned from a whole trunk of a young tree I failed to cultivate. The poor thing languished for a few years in my front yard, then withered and died. But not all was lost. I saw an interesting experiment and was so pleased with the result! I don't think anyone has ever turned a Cycad, not to mention cutting a thread in it.. The fish scale pattern is where all the leaves attached to the trunk. I framed the beautiful vessel with a dark cap and base, using Guatamelan Mora for it's harmonizing color.
