This is a very pretty acorn shaped box made out of Brown Mallee Burl (Eucalyptus viridis) with Suriname Ironwood (Bocoa prouacensis) cap. Brown Mallee is rapidly becoming my favorite burl. Is is heavy, stable, densely patterned but with minimal checks and voids, turn and thread well. The golden brown color is also unique. The burl pattern is still apparent even in a tiny piece like this one! Suriname Ironwood is probably the hardest of the ironwoods. It is perfect to craft tiny acorns.
A nice box for your valuables. The screw-on cap makes this nature inspired box extra special and ensures that your content is secured. Small enough to be worn as a pendant, and good for tiny daily pills, keepsake... Through the ages, people has given out acorns as a symbol of prosperity and luck. This one is a unique gift.
