LV-4403 Agarita Burl with Black Chacate cap Pedestal Wooden Vase, Hollow Form-Threaded

LV-4403 Agarita Burl with Black Chacate cap Pedestal Wooden Vase, Hollow Form-Threaded

$ 485.00

This is a vase made out of Texas Agarita Burl (Mahonia trifoliolata) with Black Chacate (Guibourtia conjugata) pedestal and cap. Agarita is a small shrub native to Texas, New Mexico and Arizona. Only the root ball or burl is large enough for turning. It is, therefore, a rare commodity, timber-wise. The complex pattern and color of this piece invite visual exploration. The bright yellow wood yield a dye, and the red berries from the shrub is edible. Also called TsotsBlack Chacate is from Mozambique and other E. African & S. African locales. It is dark brown with shimmering lighter streaks. Very fine grain and heavy. My first time working with this wood, and it is love at first sight.  Such handsome dark wood that turned like a dream and polished up like glass! Perfect for cap base and cap which both highlight the vase's incredible color.

Dimension (largest diameter x height): 2-3/4" x 4-1/8"
