This is a very pretty acorn shaped box made out of Pollyanna Burl (Irvingia malayana) with Hawaiian Kou (Cordia subcordata)  cap. Pollyana is a SE Asia species with mango-like, edible fruit.  The tree is very large, tall with buttress-like roots.  This awe inspiring species is considered sacred by the mountain people of Vietnam.  The wood is very hard and dense, valued for heavy construction.  Pollyana burl has beautiful swirling pattern and subtle color variation. Capped with Hawaiian Kou, a rare dark wood with lighter streaks. I like this one!
