This is a unique threaded box made out of Ambrosa Maple (Acer macrophyllum) with Black Walnut (Juglans negra) and abalone inlay.  Big-Leaf Maple (Acer macrophyllum),  the grande dame of the maple family, generously spreads her arms to shade all who seek shelter under her umbrella. In autumn the foliage turns to glorious shades of gold and orange. Ambrosia refers a particular type of maple that has been infested by ambrosia beetles. The beetles bore into the tree, and with it bring fungus that discolors the wood, giving it even more character, just what I like for a unique object. If that wasn't enough, abalone inlay make this super-special! Capped with another burl grown in California, walnut is an important commercial species for its nut and also the popular dark wood. This vessel is a beauty and a rarity! The screw-on cap ensures that your content is secured. It is a beautiful decorative item as well as functional.
