This is a fun apple shaped container made out of Satine (Brosimum rubescens) with Koa (Acacia koa) stem. Satine is also called Bloodwood or Cardinal wood due to it's deep red coloration that will darken with exposure. The wood is lutrous, with a nice shimmer. The color is just perfect for an apple, so an apple it became.
Once in a while, I got request for salt shaker, so I have been thinking about that. Here is a new concept for a shaker that will work for any fruit with a small stem. The bottom has a rubber plug for easy filling of the content. The removable stem acts as a plug for the container, so your spice stays dry, and ensures that the small hole does not get encrusted. Pull the stem up, shake out the salt (or whatever finely grounded spice), and plug it up again. The stem can also be permanently attached with a small amount of wood glue to turn this apple into a piggy bank type container. This is a cute addition to your kitchen, or gift to your favorite teacher!
Dimension (largest diameter x height): 2" x 2-1/4"
