This is a very pretty acorn shaped box made out of Texas Ebony (Pithecellobium flexicaule) with Pecan (Carya illinoinensis) cap. This special acorn was made to honor the State of Texas, where many beautiful timbers originated. Pecan is the official State Tree of Texas (despite the "illinoinensis" indicator in it's namesake), and Texas Ebony is a timber that bears it's name. Texas ebony is not a true ebony species, but just as dark and fine grain as the real thing. It also has beautiful lighter streaks mixed in. The lustrous Pecan wood is also as delicious as it's nuts to a lignophile like me!
A nice box for your valuables. The screw-on cap ensures that your content is secured, good for jewelry, keepsake... Thought the ages, people has given out acorns as a symbol of prosperity and luck. This one is a unique gift.
