This is a mini pendant box made out of Amboyna burl (Pterocarpus indicus) with Ziricote (Cordia dodecandra) cap. Amboyna is still considered the official national tree of the Philippines, where it is now endangered. The tree itself is called Narra, and so does the reddish wood. However, the burl of the Narra tree is called Amboyna, after the location the burl originated. The swirling grains and dark streaks make this small pendant an eye catcher. Ziricote is a dark wood with darker streaks. I went to Florida Keys this summer and saw Ziricote trees ablaze with its orange flowers for the first time. What a sight!
This tiny threaded vial is small enough to be worn as a pendant with a secret compartment for small daily pills or memorial keepsake. The screw-on cap ensures that your content is secured.
