This is a mini pendant box made out of Cork Oak (Quercus suber) with Gaboon Ebony (Diospyros crassiflora) cap. As you can probably tell, I have a weakness for oaks and their acorns. A symbol of strength and endurance, oak is the national tree of many Western countries, including the dear US. Cork Oak is even more special for producing all those corks that you uncorked for special (or not so special) occasions. This oak is one commercially important species and is protected in Portugal, which supplies more than 50% of the world cork, not just for wine bottles, but also for cork boards, flooring and many other usages. Unlike some porous oaks, this species has very fine grain wood that accept threading nicely. The plug-type cap is made from one of the the darkest ebonies. This pendant is ready to be worn. It came with a Tibetan silver bail and a 22" long genuine leather cord.
This charming pendant has a secret compartment for very small daily pills or memorial keepsake. The screw-on cap ensures that your content is secured, yet can be easily accessed. For a permanent seal, apply a very small amount of wood glue to the thread before closing.
Dimension (largest diameter x height): 7/8" x 1-1/2"
