This is a very pretty acorn shaped box made out of Amboyna Burl (Pterocarpus indicus) with Mun Ebony (Diospyros mun) cap. Another nice acorn box from the pretty Amboyna burl. Amboyna is still considered the official national tree of the Philippines, where it is now endangered. The tree itselff is called Narra, and so does the reddish wood. However, the burl of the Narra tree is called Amboyna, after the location the burl originated. The swirling grains and dark streaks make thi acorn an eye catcher. The nicely figured Mun ebony further enhances the beauty of this acorn.
