This is a very pretty acorn shaped box made out of Yellow Box Burl (Eucalyptus melliodora) with Panga Panga (Millettia stuhlmannii) cap. An iconic Eucalyptus species from down under, the famed Yellow Box has perfumed, cream coloured blossoms which are a source of honey with excellent taste (its botanical name melliodora means honey-scented). The wood is as dense as boxwood, thus the common name. The burl is rare, loaded with eyes and voids. These voids were filled with saw dust and resin for a smooth finish. Related to African Wenge, but with a finer texture, Panga Panga is another rarely seen wood. The stripy grain is subtle but interesting. The warm brown tone of Panga Panga capped off this acorn well.
This is a nice box for your valuables. The screw-on cap makes this box extra special and ensures that your content is secured, good for jewelry, keepsake... Thought the ages, people has given out acorns as a symbol of prosperity and luck. This one is a unique gift for the "hard to give" people on your list!
