This is a very pretty acorn shaped box made out of Osage Orange Burl (Maclura pomifera) with Bocote (Cordia elaeagnoides) cap. Osage Orange is a hedge tree found in the Great Plains, from south Oklahoma to Northern Texas. The name of the tree comes from the native Osage tribe and the aroma of the riped fruit. It has nothing to do with the common citrus orange. The wood is one of America's most colorful timber. The bright yellow wood simmers and glows. The wood itself is readily available, but this is the first time I managed to obtain a burl from this species. What a rare beauty with all these wild pattern! From next door Mexico, Bocote is a golden wood with dark streaks and wild pattern. This cap comes with it own set of visual complexity to boost. Limited and special!
This is a nice box for your valuables. The screw-on cap makes this box extra special and ensures that your content is secured, good for jewelry, keepsake... Through the ages, people has given out acorns as a symbol of prosperity and luck. This one is a unique gift for the "hard to give" people on your list!
