This is a mini pendant box made out of Snakewood (Piratinera guianensis) with Christmas Palm Nut (Adonidia merrillii) cap. Snakewood is also known as Letter wood, Speckled wood, and Leopard wood. Considered to be the world’s rarest commercially available species and also the hardest timber. The density is so high the wood sinks in water. It is lustrous with a unique Viper-like pattern, hence the name Snakewood. The cap was fashioned out of a small palm nut with beautiful pattern. People has been using palm nut as alternative ivory for button, beads and carvings, but I don't think this tiny nut got utilized often. This combination of natural pattern in this pendant is truly special.
This pretty pendant has a tiny secret compartment for very small daily pills or memorial keepsake. The screw-on cap ensures that your content is secured, yet can be easily accessed. If you want a permanent seal, apply a very small amount of wood glue to the thread before closing.
