This is a very pretty acorn shaped box made out of Curly Hawaiian Koa (Acacia koa) with Mun Ebony (Diospyros mun) cap. This Hawaiian wood shimmers like gold, specially with the super curly figure like this one. It is not only shine, but the depth is also amazing.  You have to hold it in your hand, swirl it around to fully appreciate the amazing effect. The wood is highly sought after for carving, furniture and specially musical instruments. "Koa" means brave, bold, fearless, or warrior, it is surely a bold looking timber from a beautiful land! Koa is one of my favorite woods. It’s also the material of choice for the traditional Hawaiian ocean going canoes since Koa is the largest endemic tree in Hawaii. Mun is also at the top of my favorite list. This acorn combined top notch timbers from two places I previously called home.
