This is a very pretty acorn shaped box made out of Bougainvillea (Bougainvillea sp.) with Coconut Palm (Cocos nucifera) cap. An iconic image of the tropic, the Bougainvillea brings back to me the memories of lush garden, blue sky and sunshine.  This timber is rarely available since this "vine" does not grow very big, at least not here. I was very fiortunate to get a few large pieces from a very old vine that threaten to swallow it's owner's house. There was a huge purple bougainvillea covering in the front of my chilhood home. That, too was cut down when no sunlight could shine into our livingroom. I was sad to see it went because I used to climb up it's mutiple twisted trunks, just high enough to feel the trhill of that alternative experience. The wood has a bright yellow color with interesting grain. The cross-cut coconut palm cap adds another layer of visual interest. Coconut always reminds me of sand, surf, cool breeze, and good time spent along tropical shores, not to mention some yummy deserts and dishes. It's almost summer time, treat yourself with a piece of the tropic.
