This is a very pretty acorn shaped box made out of Tamboti (Spirostachys africana) with Bocote (Cordia elaeagnoides) cap. Also known as African Sandalwood, Tamboti is a beautiful, lustrious brown timber, often with figure. The wood supposed to have a spicy scent that last for awhile, but I did not detect much. It is oily for sure, which is a joy when sanding: no wood dust, just a pile of clogged sandpaper. Bocote is also a very fine grain, slightly oily wood. I like it more and more for the nice golden color and wild dark streaks. The color combination of this acorn is closest to the natural colors of the real thing.
A nice box for your valuables. The screw-on cap makes this nature inspired box extra special and ensures that your content is secured, good for jewelry, keepsake... Through the ages, people has given out acorns as a symbol of prosperity and luck. This one is a unique gift.
